World AIDS Day
This year marks the 35th World AIDS Day. Here in Santa Clara County, the Public Health Department and partners commemorate World AIDS Day with events November 28 to December 1 that are open to the public. Join us to show your support for people affected by HIV and to honor those who lost their lives to AIDS.
People living with HIV are neighbors, friends, coworkers, and family members. With today's modern treatments, people living with HIV can live long and healthy lives. However, the fight continues until the disease is eradicated. Let’s end HIV and AIDS together.
Every World AIDS Day since 1988, people worldwide unite against HIV. This year's theme, designated by UNAIDS as "Let Communities Lead," recognizes the role that people living with, at risk of, or affected by HIV play in the fight to end AIDS.

Last year, the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, the City of San Jose, and local partner organizations joined organizations around the world to commemorate the 34th annual World AIDS Day, December 1. Events of 2022 focused on addressing health inequities still prevalent today, magnified by COVID and mpox, for people living with HIV and AIDS. A series of free, in-person and virtual events with local organizations were hosted open to the public.
Partners honored and remembered the nearly seven thousand people diagnosed with HIV in Santa Clara County since the beginning of the fight, including 4,991 people diagnosed with AIDS.
